I work with people who are feeling stuck or at a crossroads, supporting them to explore the feelings and beliefs that contribute to their experience of current life circumstances. Using a mindfulness-based approach (i.e. paying attention in a non-judgmental way to what is going on in the present), we work together to expand awareness and understanding, and to cultivate compassion for the self that is suffering. Over time, the practice of mindfulness can provide a greater sense of possibilities in the moment, and with it, the sense of freedom that comes with choice.
My background and interest is in work with women and men who are dealing with depression, anxiety, loss and grief, eating concerns, and career and life transitions.
I have a Masters degree in Psychology from Antioch University Seattle, where I trained in Existential psychotherapy. I have since discovered the wisdom of Buddhist psychology and find that the two perspectives nicely complement one another. I have a meditation practice in the Vipassana tradition, which continues to deepen both my appreciation for the core psychological insights of Buddhism and my capacity for mindfulness in my work as a therapist.
