I offer mindfulness-based, compassion-centered psychotherapy to individuals, couples and a few families. I believe in the basic goodness at the center of all human beings; I believe there are no thought or feeling crimes. Mindfulness offers a gentle way of blessing with human presence all the energies inside of us so that those energies can become life-serving rather than life destroying. My work is influenced by my 13 year practice of mindfulness and vipassana meditation as well as my training with John Kabat-Zinn and Saki Santorelli in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and my practice of yoga. I am also deeply influenced by Tara Brach's work on Radical Acceptance who posits that it is our war with ourselves and the moment that creates our suffering. If we can soften to, accept and compassionately embrace who we are and what is occurring in this moment, then we open to transformation and healing. Mindfulness is really about changing our relationship to ourselves and to our unfolding lives so that we become kinder and more compassionate toward our fragile and beautiful humanity.
