I
graduated from Columbia University School of Social work in 1972.
Over the past twenty two years I have been working with English
and Spanish speaking individuals, families and couples in private
practice. My work has evolved to incorporate Contemplative Psychotherapy
through four years studying the integration of Eastern and Western
healing practices at The Shambhala Mountain Center in Colorado.
Experience has taught me that humans yearn to heal in ways that
tap their natural and fundamental wisdom. This wisdom reveals that
while we all suffer in this life, we always have the option to work
with ourselves directly to reduce our suffering. Inwardly we also
know that ALL of our experiences, whether painful or joyful, are
valuable and can be treated kindly with full acceptance and non-attachment.
Contemplative Psychotherapy provides the view and techniques to
help us approach our experiences with compassion and to let them
go. It also guides us to unlock our natural wisdom and its creative
power to address our problems and to take full responsibility for
ourselves. In Contemplative Psychotherapy I have found a way of
approaching therapy that is fully congruent with life experience
and based in principles that promote emotional health and happiness.
