My goal as a psychotherapist is to help you come home to yourself--to deeply know, accept and value yourself as you truly are. I believe this quality of unconditional friendliness toward yourself, what Buddhist psychologist Tara Brach calls radical acceptance, is essential for peace of mind, personal happiness and a satisfying life. In therapy I support you in exploring and moving beyond whatever may have blocked this level of self acceptance in the past so you can discover the power that you have within you to create a life that is more personally and professionally rewarding.
In addition to being a student of Buddhism for more than 20 years, I have training in psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, and mind-body approaches to therapy (psychomotor therapy and EMDR), and draw upon all of these skills to support you in your healing journey. I also encourage and teach meditation techniques to help you become more self aware and comfortable with the full range of your feelings.
I am known to be empathic, insightful, caring and skilled and it would be my privilege to work with you to create the therapeutic experience that best matches your needs. The first step is often the most difficult. Feel free to email or call me to discuss the possibilities. There is no charge for the initial phone consultation.
