Steve DavisWhen someone begins psychotherapy they are often in a state of disconnection from themselves and the world around them. This disconnection leads to "symptoms" that can be psychological, emotional and/or physical in nature and decreases our ability to access many of the important capacities we have for creating a valuable meaningful life. When these experiences become too severe, the result can be anxiety and/or depression

In our work you will have the opportunity to increase your ability to reconnect to your own being and to the world around you. The result is a greater sense of peace or quietness within and a similar experience in your relationships in the larger world. As a therapist I will share with you my perspectives, incorporate specific experiences during our sessions and utilize homework that will help you regain a sense of intra and interconnectedness. Utilizing mindfulness and related Buddhist practices is a key part of our work

Much of my training and perspective is derived from Self-Relations Therapy as developed by Steve Gilligan. This approach combines principles from Buddhism, Aikido and Ericksonian psychotherapy. In addition, my own Buddhist practice provides a further sense of direction when working with you.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker as well as a Credentialed Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor with over 35 years of experience. I work with adults providing individual and couple therapy. The types of concerns that people bring include anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, sustaining recovery, managing life transitions such as divorce or death of a loved one and chronic illness.
