Befriending ourselves in the present moment, wherever we are, and whatever life has sent our way—bringing awakened presence to our losses, predicaments, moods, relationship issues, bodily symptoms—opens the door to our deeper nature. I like to think of symptoms, difficulties, and glitches as guests—visitors that bring important information about something in us that needs/wants our attention. Our obstacles are opportunities to awaken.
From moment to moment, life brings us exactly what we need for our awakening. Like following a thread in a tapestry, or a musical motif in a song, we can learn to track psyche’s call. By bringing deep awareness to the messengers that call on us from the unconscious, we begin to find out what we have been trying to tell ourselves. The intrinsic inner wisdom that ripples through our life hologram can begin to unfold.
The style of interactive, holistic listening I’ve practiced for 25 years is grounded in mindfulness, informed by vipassana meditation and by extensive training in Jungian analytic, psychodynamic, mind-body, expressive, and cognitive modalities. A Jungian psychiatrist, I help people from all walks of life look deeply into the raw material of the moment, and embark on their own journey of awakening.
