It is difficult to respond to our emotional pain as a call for transformation. Busyness, addictions, or casting blame may seem easier ways to lessen our pain. But the time comes when these maneuvers no longer compensate for our lost vitality.
I offer an alternative path: skillful and compassionate connection and a set of tools including EMDR, EFT, Mindfulness, and Focusing. I join you in turning towards, not away from, what hurts. I trust that within relationship problems, and within the symptoms of depression, anxiety, numbness or distress, there is a natural healing force that is attempting to send you vital messages, to direct you in recovering your whole story.
My therapeutic approach is integrative of narrative, spiritual, and experiential psychotherapies. I draw on graduate degrees in Transpersonal Counseling and in Communication Studies; three decades of creative work as a writer and storyteller; and a long personal journey through Buddhist, Christian, and other spiritual practices that lead to a deep sense of connection and belonging to this life. I am on the faculty of Naropa University, and I teach and lecture on the spiritual path of relationships and of ordinary life.
